Murud also has an intriguing history to it. The impregnable fort of Janjira also known as Moon Fort. The fort dates back to 1511 AD and was once considered as strongest marine fort of India. To reach this fort, you have to travel by boat.There are few other forts too in the vicinity of Murud including the scenic hill fort of korlai. Also close to Murud there is Palace of Nawab surrounded by hills and greenery. The "Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary" with thick forest draping the hills have much in store for the wildlife enthusiasts.
